In today’s economic climate, whereunder economic competitiveness is heavily reliant on an ability to develop new technologies, Japan’s long-term economic competitiveness has noticeably declined, shown, for example, by IMD World Competitiveness Rankings. Conditions required for restoring Japan’s competitiveness include the construction of bases where innovation can continue to produce new businesses and advancement of technology and the development of business models in order to revitalize the regional economy.
Addressing the issue of innovation under such circumstances, we will aim to construct models for pre-evaluation of R&D with which to identify the kinds of research with high potential for ground-breaking changes in global society, innovation on an unprecedented scale, and continuous wealth generation.
