Greeting

Human movements are produced by the contraction of skeletal muscles, which is controlled by the central nervous system of the brain and spinal cord, but details of the neural mechanisms for the movements are not yet fully understood. Our laboratory conducts research on human movements, from basic daily movements such as bipedal walking to athlete’s skillful motor performance, to elucidate the mechanisms of motor control and learning.

We are conducting research using non-invasive electrophysiological techniques such as electromyography (EMG), spinal reflex, electroencephalogram (EEG), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to the primary motor cortex, and brain imaging by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
