人が生きるのに、これほど強いストレスが、本当に避けられないのでしょうか? 競争激化、時間、コスト、債務、SNS批評、高所得の生活スタイル、終わりのない富裕化、巨大都市のアメニティ、娯楽や浪費、セックス、家族の軋轢、結婚・離婚、高騰する家賃、病気・医療費、ドラッグ、不安定な職場、さまざまな規制・基準、厳しいチェック、多様なエスニック、アレルギー、偏見・人種差別・・・

ザワヒリ殺害に関するバイデンの勝利宣言に、私は違和感を覚えました。正義をなした、ということを伝えるには、もっと複雑な現実に迫る説得が必要だったと思います。
ペロシ議長の台湾訪問にも、失望しました。確かに、プーチンがウクライナ侵攻を強行したことは、アジア各国にも安全保障の見直しを要請したでしょう。信頼の基礎を再確立する必要がありました。また、習近平の香港民主化に対する恐怖の弾圧劇を阻止できなかったことも含めて、台湾の人権・民主主義に強く関与するペロシの姿勢と外交の力を、もっと違う形で発揮してほしかったです。
国境を越えてテロリストを殺害する、撃墜される危険を冒しても台湾に入る、というのは、ウクライナ戦争でロシアが示した政治的暴力が波及したのではないでしょうか。大国が国内政治によって外交を決め、大国間秩序が下位の諸国に強制されます。

The Economistのエッセーは、香港返還から25年経った人びとの姿を描き、次は世界の民主主義が消える番だ、というメッセージを残します。
アップル・デイリーの廃刊を強いられた企業家Jimmy Laiジミー・ライ：黎智英が受けた当局による弾圧は、歴史に残るものでしょう。
「1959年、彼は12歳のとき、植民地へ向かう船で密航した。」 ぼろを集めるチャイルド・レイバーから始めて、工場の経営者となり、自らの生産ラインを創設しました。そして、1989年の天安門を埋める学生デモに感動し、支援のTシャツを売って、その利潤をすべて民主派に送りました。
