イスラエル軍のガザ侵攻は、ハマスの殲滅をとなえて病院も包囲し、破壊しています。北部の住民を南部に追いやり、その南部も含めて空爆を続ける中で、市民、女性、子供たちが何千人も犠牲になっています。
もしも魔法が使えたら、一夜にして、ナイフもライフルも、戦車も戦闘機も、各地の戦場からすべての武器を消し去り、人々の頭から過激主義の思想を消して、紛争を解決するために話し合うよう求めるでしょう。
暴力の犠牲者が一人もいない。脅迫や差別されることがない。豊かさと文芸の復興において国家や集団は競争し、個々の紛争がむしろ旧制度の革新と新しい平等な権利、新しい社会への参加によって解消されるような、躍動する世界を「平和」とよぶでしょう。

ガザ地区の面積は、東京23区の6割弱、大阪市の6割増し、ニューヨーク市の約半分、福岡市とほぼ同じです。
もしも魔法が使えたら、各地の難民たちが独立を宣言し、次々に、新しい国家となるでしょう。そして、圧倒的な軍事力を背景に内外における治安と国境周辺を鎮静化し、暴力集団の再現を抑えます。さらに、国際的な経済支援が民主的な選挙と政権移行を20年間保証します。
アダム・トゥーズがドイツを例に挙げたように、パレスチナがもっと豊かになって、イスラエルを超える経済力と軍事力を実現できたときに、話し合いによる解決策は成功した、と言えるでしょう。

私たちに魔法は使えません。しかし、自由貿易の考え方を見直す変化が始まっています。
DARON ACEMOGLU and SIMON JOHNSONによれば、

あるいは、ガザ地区がイスラエル・パレスチナの新しい連邦国家の行政区として栄え、また、中東地域が自由貿易圏としてレバノン、ヨルダン、シリア、イラク、クウェートを結ぶ経済統合の中で、国家を超えて繁栄する時代が来るかもしれません。
31歳で殺害されたジャーナリスト、Rushdi Sarrajは、戦場で何が起きているかを伝えるために、ガザに残りました。戦後秩序が何を実現できるか、繁栄の時代が来るまで、その魂はガザを見続けます。
