歴史的に、最高権力者の葬儀・国葬とは、国民に対して正当な歴史を示す（反対派の物語、真実の追究を止める）ために行う、継承者の儀式である。
国葬をめぐる議論は、岸田政権にとって好ましくない形で続いています。
2022年7月15日、NHKの速報「安倍元首相の「国葬」 ことし秋に行う方針 岸田首相が表明」を読むと、その後も、首相の説明が同じ言葉を繰り返すことに失望します。
「憲政史上最長の8年8か月にわたり、総理大臣の重責を担（った。）」「外国の首脳を含む国際社会から極めて高い評価を受けている」「民主主義の根幹である選挙が行われている中、突然の蛮行で逝去された」と。
しかし、在任期間が長いこと、選挙に何度も勝ったことが、「国葬」に値する理由になりますか? 特に、安倍氏の長期政権は、森友学園の用地買収疑惑など、スキャンダルを抑え込み、旧統一教会との協力関係を公然と利用して、選挙を勝ち抜くことでもありました。
NHKや朝日新聞、司法システムに露骨に干渉し、日本の民主主義を損なった責任は重大です。亡くなった今こそ、すべての疑惑に関する真相究明を進めるべきでしょう。

国際社会からの高い評価が、国葬を行う理由になるでしょうか?
アメリカとの軍事同盟を強化し、自衛隊の活動に法的な根拠を与える「平和安全法制」を実現したことは、日本が安全保障政策や成長モデルを見直す論争の始まりでした。確かに、台湾をめぐる米中対立やロシアのウクライナ侵攻を受けて、メルケル元首相の評価とは対照的に、安倍氏の国際的評価は内外で高まったかもしれません。
プーチンとの親交を重視した北方領土交渉、トランプへの抱きつき外交は、十分に計算された、国際政治における日本の役割を高めたものかもしれません。中国の急激な軍事大国化を包囲するため、アメリカの関与を確実にし、ロシアやインドとも連携する発想はリアリストに特有です。その意味で、「インド太平洋」を強調し、TPPを解体しなかったことも重要です。しかし、習近平との対立を誇示し、韓国との和解が崩れたことは、日本政治の右傾化を正当化する道具になったと思います。
このような安倍政権のむつかしい評価を避けて、疑惑を抑え込み、神聖化する岸田首相は、国内における自身の権力基盤を計算して「国葬」方針を表明した、と説明するのが説得的です。もしそうであれば、「国葬」とは、安倍派とその他の右翼団体に政府が媚びる、効果の怪しい、浅薄なパフォーマンスです。
他方、国際政治における日本外交の役割を示す機会にしたい、と岸田首相が願ったのは本当でしょうか? 台湾海峡、北方領土問題、ウクライナ戦争、危機を打開する積極的なアイデアを示す覚悟と準備があって進めるのであれば、国葬の理由になるかもしれません。
選挙期間中に、テロに倒れた政治家に、外国の指導者たちが多くの弔意を寄せたことは、恐怖を深める時代に当然のことでしょう。葬儀に集まるだけで特別な合意は得られません。

ブレグジットを無視して保守層に媚びるリズ・トラスの党首選挙について、「今じゃないよ、バーナード」は困難な現実を直視し、改革のアイデアを示すように求めました。
