（コメント） ロシアン・ルーレットやポーカー・ゲームにたとえてプーチンのロシ軍集積を描く記事は、他の多くの論説と同様、プーチンの計算を見誤っていたと思います。プーチンという権力者、その権力の構造的特徴を正しく理解できなかったわけです。
他方、戦争は続き、拡大するとしても、必ず終わります。その終結に向けたプーチンを含む国際政治の計算は続くのでしょう。金融市場の相互作用、センサーとリモートによる殺人機械の戦場、石油・天然ガスなど、国際商品の支配がどうなるのか、次の国際秩序がそれらを反映することで、私たちは次の戦争を避けるしかありません。

ウラジーミル・プーチンは「権力の新しい調理法」に、国境侵犯、新国家樹立、という国際均衡の項目を書き加えたのです。
東部の「独立」・占領でなく、北部、南部からも侵攻し、軍事拠点やネットワークを破壊している、ということです。これは制空権確立と地上軍の侵攻を準備するイラク戦争の再現でしょうか? プーチンは、第1次湾岸戦争として、サダム・フセインのクウェート占領を撃退したブッシュ（父）大統領、バクダッドに入らず撤収した第1次湾岸戦争をめざすのか?
最終目標は、ゼレンスキー政権の崩壊と「ウクライナ全土の非武装化」である、と唱え始めました。イラク戦争やアフガニスタンにおける「体制転換」をモデルにするのか?
帝国の辺境や周辺部において、圧倒的な軍事的優位を示したチェチェン戦争、グルジア侵攻の再現を予想した専門家たちが多かったと思います。
NATOが退く交渉をしないのであれば、ウクライナを東西に分割して、旧ドイツを再現するヤルタ会談Ⅱを終結としたいのか? 占領して撤退するまで、親ロシア勢力を配置して、富と権力を与え、民主派や反ロシアの指導者たちを拘束・脅迫・拷問する。あるいは、ロシア側へ長期拘束し、ひそかに殺害する?
EUやアメリカに核戦争を示唆したチキンレースを挑むのは、金正恩と似ています。ベラルーシを従属国家の地位に固定し、たとえウクライナが親ロシア体制に変わらなくても、永久に破綻国家であればよい、と考えるのであれば、軍事力行使による完全な破壊と政権崩壊、必要なら、何度でも「懲罰」を繰り返すことで達成できます。

プーチンはNATOとの戦争を望まないでしょう。しかし、「懲罰」のために、キエフを占領して破壊するかもしれません。かつてThe Economistの記事で、砲撃によって穴だらけになったグロズヌイの写真が紹介されていたことを思い出しました。

資源、人口、領土を持った、巨大な北朝鮮だ、と思いました。ウクライナ侵攻は、プーチンの独裁体制が、国内だけでなく国際秩序にも反映されるべきだというリアリストのアピールです。
テレビは、ロシア軍が爆撃するウクライナ各地で、避難する住民の姿を映しています。住居を捨てて逃げる夫人は怒りを示し、道路に出てさまよう老婦人は一人でどうしたらよいのかわからず絶望的な不安を訴えます。
権力者の独善と傲慢が正義であり、冷酷で野蛮な世界こそ彼らの楽園だ、という大合唱を、プーチンは世界に広めます。
