Research topics

1. Development of New catalysis

Development of new efficient catalysis is desired in energy conservation and in high atom economy.  Our research targets the design and synthesis of new metal complexes having efficient catalytic activities.

2. Development of asymmetric catalysis using transition-metal complexes with chiral ligands

Many biologically-active organic compounds are optically active. Our efforts are directed toward the research on the asymmetric catalysis using chiral complexes, which is one of the most effective methods in the preparation of such compounds.

3. Preparation of new functional organic compounds

New compounds, which have optical, electronic, and/or magnetic activities, are strongly demanded.  For obtaining such compounds, coordination polymers and herical materials are designed and prepared.

4. Synthesis and utility of organic compounds containing heteroatoms

Reagents possessing phosphorus, sulfur, boron, and/or silicon atoms exhibit strong affinity toward oxygen and halogen atoms. By utilizing this special feature, new reagents and new reactions involving such heteroatoms are being investigated.
