OVERVIEW
To increase students' ability to use foreign languages
and to deepen their understanding of different cultures
Since
its founding, Doshisha University has considered the
promotion of internationalism as one of its most important
educational goals. Educating students with a high
level of practical foreign language ability and a
flexible attitude
foreign cultures and societies is also part of our
mission.
The Institute for Language and Culture, housed in
the Kohaku-kan at Kyotanabe Campus, unifies language
course offerings and curricular development in order
to provide students from all majors with the resources
necessary to maintain a high level of foreign language
ability.
The Institute's systematic, four-year curriculum offers
courses in a total of seven languages: English, as
well such languages as German, French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and Korean, which students may be encountering for
the first time. In accordance
with student needs and wishes, it provides a flexible
system of total language education that allows students
to apply the skills they have learned.
