Japanese Language Courses |
These Courses are designed to help students to develop the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing comprehensively. The Center also offers the courses which specifically emphasize reading comprehension, written expressions and oral expressions. These are targeted at those who have a minimum of one year’s study of Japanese and conducted according to each student’s Japanese ability.

Japanese/English Language Seminars |
The Japanese Language Seminars help students to prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, depending on each individual student’s Japanese ability. The English Language Seminars help students to prepare for university entrance examinations according to the level of each student’s English skills. |

Lecture Courses in Japanese Studies |

As for the subject “Japanese Life and Culture” included in the Lecture Courses in Japanese Studies, the classes are conducted depending on each individual student’s Japanese ability. In addition, a wide variety of courses are offered to deepen the students’ understanding of Japan in its various aspects, such as its language, arts, philosophy, religion, law and politics, economy, history, and society. |

Lecture Courses in International Studies |
Lecture Courses in International Studies have been designed to deepen the student’s knowledge
about international education and understanding. These courses teach world history, -culture, -
business and -media. |

Extracurricular Activities |
- Besides the regular classes, the Center offers the off-campus classes and extracurricular activities to learn about Japanese society and culture. A great variety of these activities includes:
- Calligraphy
- Flower arrangement
- Tea ceremony
- Kimono dressing
- Traditional handicraft tours
- Visit to the facility for the disabled
- Japanese cooking
- Traditional cultural events and festivals, etc.
- Since the Imadegawa Campus of Doshisha University is located in the heart of Kyoto, it gives students great opportunities to be exposed to Japanese culture and the national important cultural properties on a daily basis.
