A Speech Contest for International Students was Held.

A speech contest for international students, hosted by Rotary Club of Kyoto Kita, under the aegis of City of Kyoto and Doshisha University, was held on a high note on Saturday, March 11, from 4:30 p.m. at Hardy Hall in Kambaikan with approximately 250 attendances.
Firstly the opening remarks were addressed from the distinguished guests, Mr. Wataru Makino, Chairperson of Kyoto City Council, Mr. Takashi Hokoyama, Director, International Relation Office, General Affairs Bureau, City of Kyoto, Dr. Masao Tsuchikawa, President, Kyoto Women’s University, Dr. Eiji Hatta, President, Doshisha University, Professor Masahiro Yurino, Dean for the Student Support Services Center. Later, 16 speakers made speeches enthusiastically based on their own experiences under the theme of ‘Coming into contact with Kyoto’, as the international students from England, The United States of America, France, China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, studying at Kyoto University, Kyoto Women’s University, Otani University and Doshisha University in Graduate Program, Associated Kyoto Program and Center for Japanese Language.
The first-prize winner was Ms. Huang Xiao Xiao from China, studying at Graduate School of Commerce of Doshisha University, after completed the program at Center for Japanese Language. She addressed her various experiences such as happy and sad events at Doshisha, with performing a song and deeply impressed the audience. Other speeches made at the contest also deserved to receive great applause for drawing laughter and tears with their unique experiences in Kyoto.
After the contest was closed, a social evening was organized on the 7th floor of Kambaikan at Doshisha University, and the international students enjoyed themselves in cultivating friendship each other.
