National Health Insurance

Foreigners who will stay in Japan for one year or longer are required to join the National Health Insurance Program. When you receive medical treatment, you will need to pay only 30% of the incurred medical costs. Upon joining the program, you will need to pay its premium in due course. Please note that Kyoto City provides a subsidy program “Kyoto City Insurance Subsidy Scheme for International Students.”
